Quick reviews are short, easy-to-digest reviews containing my initial thoughts about a product I've recently purchased. These reviews will not be thorough, but they'll quickly go through the pros and cons of a certain product.
I often shy away from bold makeup looks, but after seeing a swatch of MAC Lipstick in Dubonnet, I decided to buy it on a dare. Luxuriously pigmented and on trend, you really can't go wrong with this brick-red lipstick that flatters most skin tones. Here's what I love--and don't love--about this permanent shade.
Packaging: A+
A sleek, matte bullet dispenser makes this lipstick easy to retrieve and store. While some lipstick residue did build up around the edges of the bullet, it wasn't overly messy, and took only a few swipes to tidy up.
Color: A+
Although the color may be a bit strong for some women, this shade is the perfect lip for the winter months--being both deeply pigmented and creamy. I managed to apply this without lip liner and I never had any bleeding issues, even after eating a Korean Thanksgiving meal with my parents. Oddly enough, this color can look bright red or muted in photographs, when in fact it is a deep brick red.

Although creamy, this lipstick stays put, and I was able to wear it without lip liner. Just a few dabs on the top and bottom lip should add a nice wash of color that eventually fades out to a wine-kissed stain.
Overall: A
Having worn this for about a week now, there's hardly anything bad I can say about Dubonnet; its rich, creamy base is a godsend for my chapped lips, while giving my lips that perfect, deep red color. I love it--and I would definitely repurchase it.

You look so lovely in that color! I'm envious... I think only certain people can pull off a dramatic lip, and I'm not one of them... I think I'd look more like a clown than anything. But such is life.

This is the look I'm going to aim for with the liner/lipstick, with a deep red lip do you suggest a shimmery or matte neutral with the liner to do this look? Logic says matte... but I have no matte cream toned shadows, suggestions for one would be great!
